Copenhagen 11.07.2023 #SpringsteenTour2023

After Oslo I’ve been home for about a week to recuperate and to celebrate my birthday. I also had time to see Coldplay in Ullevi (great show!). My annoying cough is gone and I’m ready to embark the third leg of our #SpringsteenTour2023.

Since the last dates of the European leg of the tour will mostly take place in Central Europe, I’ve packed to be away from home for about 2,5 weeks. After the two dates in Copenhagen, base camp will be at Oliver’s in Cologne. From there we will travel to Hamburg, Vienna, Hockenheim, Munich and Monza.

Showday: A challenge for every city you come to is to find the best way to the venue. We decided to walk for 10 minutes to Rådhusplatsen to catch the metro. Turns out we weren’t the only ones who had the same idea. There was a long line to the ticket vending machines, but luckily there was also an option to buy tickets online.

We arrived about one hour before the start of the concert. Our gate was A6A on the back of the arena. I’ve never seen so many gates in an arena before. On “our” side there were 12 (!) gates; A1-A11 and A6A, which is one of five gates around the stadium that lead into the GA-area. The pit was already quite full. We found a spot on the right side of the stage fairly far back, but with a decent view and a lot of space for dancing.

Noteworthy this show was that Born In the USA was dropped from the 27-song setlist and that was the first time for us since the tour came to Europe. As far as I’m concerned it can stay away. I’m not much for that song, to be honest. Thunder Road was back on (Hooray!) and Nils made his characteristic spin during the guitar solo on Because the Night. Darlington County followed by Working on a Highway is a lovely combo and Glory Days is a lot of fun.

Furthermore, the Danes are very thirsty and they go (again and again) to buy beer in six-packs, and they carry them in cardboard cup holders and then they leave the trash on the floor when going for more.

Oh, I almost forgot, a word of advice: If you want to make sure to get Bruce’s attention – be a cute child and bring a nice sign and huge ear protectors.

Finally, we skipped the metro on the way back to the hotel, it was just too crowded. We walked instead. It took us about 45 minutes. Next show: Copenhagen 2.
