Show a Little Faith …

As I was practising kicking techniques in kickboxing practise two months ago, I accidentally fell. I landed hard on my elbow and felt a sharp pain in my shoulder. I couldn’t continue the set. I later found out that the fall had caused serious damage to my shoulder (a ruptured rotator cuff).

show a little faith there’s magic in the night

Although it has only been two months since the accident, the injury has been a major personal setback, I’ve been in constant pain and I’ve felt very tired and blue and it has influenced my writing and my everyday life a lot. I realise it sounds trivial and exaggerated. It’s not like I’m suffering from a lethal disease but, to me, the pain, the difficulties to move, not being able to train and (not least) to be dependent on others, wear me out.

Tomorrow I’ll submit myself to surgical treatment to re-attach the torn tendon to the upper arm bone. To be honest, I’m a bit afraid. I’ve never been sedated before. To calm myself down I listen to music (Bruce Springsteen of course) and repeat my mantra, which I have tattooed on my forearm: “show a little faith there’s magic in the night”.

I sincerely hope I’ll wake up restored and that I, in a not too distant future, will be able to resume my normal regime again.

Over and out 😉 Anna
